The N Word

One day we were coming back from Saskatoon with Grandpa. I was bored so I started playing with the radio. I found my favorite station and there was a rap song on. Grandpa said " I bet this song is sung by a N-----" When we got home I showed him the music video and the guy was white.

Another thing he did was: a T.V. guide came in the mail and it had Will Smith on the front page he took A white marker put an X through his face and wrote n----- on it. It was kind of funny at the time then I discovered that it was wrong and told grandpa to stop but he said in a very Serious voice "Black people should be killed and anyone else that isn't white". He crossed the line and Grandma yelled at him. He has toned down the Racism but he will never learn how not to be racist.

  2. Wow, that was intense. I don't really have any advice for this one. It's really hard to tell your grandparents what they have been saying all their lives isn't right.

  4. Good job trying to tell your grandpa that he crossed the line and set him straight. Even though he learned his whole life that thinking that way was okay, it really isn't. Race is merely the colour of your skin, and nothing else.

  5. It's hard to tell someone, you care about that what they are doing and saying is wrong. That it's never been right. But I think you did the right thing.
